VJ Mode 1.5
Files and Folders Multiple Access
Setting up the database in VJ-Mode is as easy as it can be. Simple drag and drop up to 10 folders in each numbered area, and the folder list is automatically generated together with a thumbnail of each folder. By selecting the folder of preference from the list, the video files that are included in each folder are parsed instantly inside the two video players A and B. The selection process of each folder can be automated according to time values that are set from the user.
Realtime Audio Analysis & BPM
VJ Mode includes a very intuitive feature that enables the automation of various parameters of the interface by triggering selected events that define the visual performance. Based on a realtime audio analysis feature and a BPM estimator, it is possible to send various triggers to a number of different parameters (such as video file selection, FX change, video mix amount, etc). Thus, it is possible to create choreographic visual events based on the realtime analysis of various frequency bands, or timing values according to the BPM speed.
HD Video Playback
Video players accept HD video files and other popular formats, as well as user-defined resolutions that automatically adjust to the players output. Controls exist for the playback process that can be further be fully-automated according to triggering commands from the realtime audio analysis or the BPM note length that is selected from the user.
An extra video player has been implemented into VJ-Mode 1.5 and can be accessed from the menu bar. It may receive a separate file or folder, and set cue points for accurate playback. This module has been implemented after requests from our customers that needed a playback device for intro videos and other video clips for club and venues.
Complete Video Mixing
There are multiple functions available for the mixing of the two video players A and B, and this may result in very interesting visual results. With a little experimentation you may find new methods for composing the visual show. Automation is present here as well, so that it is possible to create a mix effortlessly.
Extensive Library of Video Effects
VJ Mode includes two modules of video effect racks that can be set in a chain configuration. Each rack includes 20 bundled Standard and OpenGL effects that will enhance your visual performance. Further than this, the application supports Freeframe plugins (an open source cross-platform protocol that is mainly used in real time video processing systems). The users can install the plugins they desire, and these are populated automatically in the Visual Effects section. Every parameter can be automated based on triggering events that can are set from the user.
Setting Up Effects
This panel is accessed from the menu bar and it provides an easy way of configuring the effects selection and automation. When an automation trigger is received from the audio analysis or BPM function, the program randomizes the selected effect and its parameters. Here, the user can control which effects (and their parameters) are affected from the triggering, and create specific interpolations between visual styles.
Real-time visualization of audio (line input, microphone, audio sample, etc) is also possible with this module. The audio signals are received and create 3D visualizations that can be further configured by scaling, positioning, and rotating the visual model. The texture of the waveform can be colorized or it is possible to use any other picture or video file to "dress up" the signals. But why stop there? After configuring the model, you can set two racks of effects in a chain configuration (as you may find in the Visual Effects section, however here the effects are customized to enhance the visual waveform). The effects can also be automated by using the triggering functions, and the final output of the visualization is mixed with the main video output. You can also use here all the mixing functions as before, and create impressive visual styles that are unique and responsive to the audio that is heard in real time.
Main Output Window
In the Main Output window you can set the size and the position of the preview and final output window. The size and the position depends on the power of your computer system and your graphics cards. If you have multiple graphics cards installed, it is possible to create multi-screen shows and set the preferences in this window very easily.
Multiple Screen Configuration
The main output of your performance can be sent to a number of different windows that can be configured to create a multi-screen installation, or create 3D mapping projections. Every window can have a position in the virtual space, dimensions, rotation and zoom. Moreover, you can set for each screen the keystone for its four corners, so that it is easily adjusted to your projection needs. Your settings can be one-click-saved so that the next time you set your installation you are ready to perform.
Recording Video Output
A Video Recording module is bundled in VJ Mode so that you can set up and record your visual performance very easily and with no need of using a video capture system, or further expenses in money and CPU load to store your visual performance. It is possible also to set the video file of your recording based on the size and quality that you desire. Moreover, you can automate the visual process of your performance, randomize settings and preferences and record the final output. We guarantee that the final outcome will be something that you will never expect to see.
The application supports a number of computer communication protocols to control between hardware devices or remote computer units. This module lets you configure your MIDI-enabled hardware (or software) device to communicate with a variety of parameters that are included in VJ Mode. You can select your device from the menu and set the control numbers you want to the function of the program you would like to link. The final settings can be saved for future reference.
OSC Remote Control
The full version of VJ-Mode 1.5 (for both Mac and PC) gives the opportunity to establish local or remote communication with other programs, computers, laptops, or even iPhones. This makes the control of the interface very handy and intuitive, and gives the user the opportunity to create more easily the show that is desired. Together with the OSC-enabled version of VJ-Mode you will get for free an application that can be used to control instantly VJ-Mode. Just use the Remote Control in any other computer or laptop and get flexibility and instant communication in local or remote locations.
iPhone Remote Control
Further than this, we have created an iPhone layout template that is used for the same reason as the Remote Control. You can apply the template into your iPhone with the use of TouchOSC, and you can control VJ-Mode instantly from your phone. This creates a great communication between VJ-Mode and other external or internal, software or hardware, local or remote devices.
M4L Plugins Collections
The M4L Plugins is a collection of devices that can be used inside Ableton Live 8 to offer and extensive control for VJ Mode 1.5. The plugins offer an incredible amount of control and automation possibilities for your audiovisual show that will let you create stunning sequenced visual performances with the power of Ableton Live and VJ Mode.
